Riverbed Whitewater Saves Chicago Financial Firm Cash
Chicago’s Spot Trading has made efficient and secure transport of its data possible thanks to Riverbed Whitewater cloud storage appliances.
The proprietary trading firm has saved half a million dollars on storage infrastructure by switching to Amazon Glacier and Amazon Web Services cloud platforms. By including Riverbed Technology’s Whitewater solution in its cloud strategy, the firm can also now de-duplicate and encrypt cloud-traffic.
The results are yet further reductions in deployment costs and securing data on its way to and from the cloud. What’s more, should Spot Trading suffer data loss then recent files can easily be recovered in minutes with Whitewater, not days.
Spot Trading is a technology-driven trading firm which relies on having the optimal computing infrastructure that is essential for real-time trading. The responsibility for this falls on the IT department, which had to spend seven days a month managing data back up with a tape-based system before moving to the cloud.
“Riverbed Whitewater gives customers added flexibility in how they can access Amazon Glacier for their long-term archival and tape replacement strategies,” said Terry Wise, director, Worldwide Partner Ecosystem, Amazon Web Services.
