Riverbed Integrates Its ADC With SAP NetWeaver

Riverbed Technology has announced integration of its Stingray application delivery controller (ADC) with a key technology from enterprise giant SAP. That technology is the latter’s NetWeaver – an integrated computing platform which acts as the technical foundation for many of its core applications. Now, enterprises on NetWeaver can look to the Riverbed Stingray Traffic Manager as a mainstay of improving the performance profiles of their systems, say the partners.

Customers running SAP solutions who are moving to virtual and cloud-based infrastructures will benefit by the products linking up as according to Riverbed business unit SVP and general manager Jeff Pancottine, the combination will “help them achieve improved performance of business-critical applications,” as well as their resilience and security.

The accreditation process SAP put Stingray through should certainly reassure any customer of the veracity of Pancottine’s claims. Stingray was used as a virtual appliance on NetWeaver and baselined against a stiff battery of use cases, with SAP engineers probing for any application functionality, performance or security weaknesses. Only by consistently getting the very highest scores in these tests did Stingray earn its place as a key NetWeaver utility, confirm the two vendors.
