Riverbed Boosts Aura Light Productivity With SteelHead Deployment
Riverbed Technology, the leader in application performance infrastructure, has announced Swedish lighting manufacturer Aura Light is using Riverbed SteelHead WAN optimisation solution to centralise its application strategy by accelerating key enterprise applications.
Before the deployment of SteelHead, Aura Light reported that many of its key applications, including enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM), for its 250 employees across Europe were running slowly and reducing worker efficiency.
In order to improve their IT manageability, Aura Light has centralised its applications by outsourcing to a data centre, but this process had slowed the performance of some applications to the point that they were unusable on some remote sites.
According to Peter Lidgren, IT manager at Aura Light, the company wanted to avoid adding more systems and complicating the matter. He said: “One option was to add more systems to the Citrix farm but I wanted to get away from that and just focus on the issue that was affecting the users. And I wanted to create a stage that would allow us to implement new systems, whatever they are, and have them work well right away.”
In order to fix the company’s efficiency problem, Lidgren turned to Riverbed to configure and install six SteelHead appliances at remote sites and seven in the data centre. The firm also purchased 50 SteelHead Mobile Software Licences to give its sales team a high level of application performance.
The company have now reported being able to access mission-critical and everyday applications in around half the time, reducing frustration and increasing overall productivity.
