Riverbed Application Platform Boosts Performance
Riverbed Technology, the leader in application performance infrastructure, has announced that Lathrop & Gage is using Riverbed Application Performance Platform solutions to improve the resiliency of its IT infrastructure.
By making use of Riverbed SteelHead's key features such as path selection, WAN optimisation and QoS functionality, along with Riverbed SteelCentral network performance management solutions, the firm has reduced highly disruptive failovers to five seconds or less and increased network capacity by up to 300 per cent.
One of the top 100 largest law firms in the United States, Lathrop & Gage employs 320 attorneys practicing across 10 offices throughout the country. Two separate 10-gigabyte MPLS networks link headquarters and regional offices to each other and to the company’s data centres.
Until Riverbed's technology was deployed, only one MPLS network was active while the other was passive, used only when a failover occurred. According to Riverbed, this was an inefficient configuration that caused increased failover time and more disruption for the attorneys.
To address these issues and ensure the network’s reliability and availability to attorney’s phones, conferencing system and software applications, Riverbed deployed a range of solutions including its SteelHead appliances, which provide WAN optimisation that ensures the high performance of applications over the network.
Commenting on the deployment, Lathrop & Gage’s network manager David Alberico said: “With SteelHead appliances already in place it was easy to drop path selection into the existing setup. It works perfectly and it’s real easy to build out.”
