Network World WAN Optimisation Test Puts Riverbed On Top
WAN optimisation specialist Riverbed has scored impressively against its rivals in an open test run by a leading channel publication.
Editors at the independent Network World publication stacked seven of the current crop of wide area network optimisation technology vendors against each other – the first test of its kind they’d done since 2007. A focus for 2013 was to see how far the technology has advanced to support the fact most applications are moving to the cloud – meaning performance really matters.
Each product was put through an extensive round of testing that focussed on three key areas: performance, visibility and control.
The result: Riverbed’s Steelhead (CXA-5050 and 555) appliance models came clear top in the evaluation, with the testing team noting Steelhead “excels at the core WAN optimisation functions of compression and de-duplication”.
To put that in context, the company’s technology is well ahead of its peers, including offerings from Blue Coat, Cisco, Silver Peak Systems, Citrix, Ipanema and Exinda Networks.
“From a pure performance perspective,” concludes the report, Riverbed’s Steelhead team “know what they’re doing”.
Riverbed Technology specialises in helping companies around the world meet their performance goals.
