Gartner: Big Data Analytics On The Rise

Big data analytics looks set to be an increasing area of focus for chief information officers going forward. That’s the view at least of analysts at IT trend-watcher Gartner, who have just published a study claiming at least 25 per cent of large enterprises will have committed to the approach by 2026 – a significant increase on the 8 per cent that currently already do.

Organisations are using big data analytics for a variety of purposes, including security, says Gartner. But big data could also be very useful in infrastructure, too says application performance infrastructure leaders Riverbed Technology, who in a recent blog post has mapped out how e-commerce application performance problems can be very effectively addressed using Big Data APM (Application Performance Monitoring).

For example, such an approach will enable organisations to not just get rid of such issues – it will also enable CIOs to “discover and eliminate” serious potential performance problems before customers notice a thing.

Even better: Big Data APM not only helps you identify and eliminate the source of the problem but any ‘ripple effect’ problems as well, suggests the post.
